Sad to read that famous names with big followings are now moving into the Substack space. Sounds just like what happened to podcasting, where celebrities ended up taking all the attention away from creators who were already there.

Oh definitely. It’s so frustrating. I understand famous authors wanting to come on here (as annoying as that still is haha), but when other celebs are just churning out crap articles cos it’s the latest “thing”, it really gets to me

I am thankful that you shared how you really feel. Good luck in all that follows, most of all self care!

Thanks Chris ☺️

Writing when you have something to say rather than on a predetermined schedule is perfectly sensible, especially as a way of side stepping burnout. Those who value your words will read them whenever they appear.

Thank you David, I appreciate the support

I hope you’re able to find some peace and relaxation soon 💛 and I’m sorry to hear you’ve been so stressed about your content!

I relate heavily to the disappointment of what Notes has become. I still try to post regularly, but like that creator said, nobody wants to engage with reshares of articles anymore. I posted one note a few months ago that got 12k likes, and my long form posts get about 5-6 likes. Substack is definitely changing :/

Oof yeh that’s rough. It sucks cos Notes views used to somewhat correlate to profile / article views, but now they’re completely different worlds.

And thank you!! 😇

I had the same experience last year, Lucy. With Instagram. At this time of year in 2024 I was broken from having spent a year trying to crack the algorithm, so I understand this anxiety. For some reason Substack doesn't have the same effect on me. But yes, do what you have to do and write when you have something to say, and take the time you need to reset your brain

Thanks Lisa, it helps to hear you’ve gone through a similar thing (as demotivating as I’m sure it’s been for us both). I’m glad Substack is remaining a positive and healthy space for you, though! 😇
