Welcome to rumblewrites, a blog about language. From etymologies and linguistic histories to book reviews and writing tips, there’s something here for every linguaphile.
About me
Hi, I’m Lucy, a writer and archivist from England.
I have a BA from Durham University in Ancient, Medieval and Modern History and an MA in Digital Humanities from UCL. My primary research interest is 18thC intellectual history, in particular the literature and language of Britain and France at a time of Revolution.
Since graduating, I have been working full-time in an archive. On the side, I am also an Assistant Editor for Black Thoughts Editorial, and an amateur writer. My words have appeared in over 50 literary magazines and anthologies, and I am currently working on my first novel.
Why subscribe?
rumblewrites was born out of my personal interest and experience in the arts. My posts will focus on:
18thC history
Old books / films
Linguistics
The art of writing
I also want to help other amateur writers get their work published. That’s why I’ll be posting a list of submission opportunities on the first of every month to help get your stories seen.
Standard posts are scheduled for Fridays at 10am, with the exception of #onthisday deep-dives. At least 1 post a month will be restricted to subscribers, so why not sign up? Get exclusive content and full access to the newsletter archive for FREE:
Every subscription helps me out a ton, but if you want to go the extra mile, include a pledge to become a paid subscriber. Thank you in advance for your support.
